Our beautiful Queen Victoria XXI, Patricia "Tish" Foyle Johnson, cannot claim to be a native of Lafayette but does claim to be a “Born Again Cajun”! Born in North Louisiana, she grew up in Southeast Texas, and eventually settled in Lafayette. She received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Lamar University in Beaumont and soon owned and managed a social service/counseling organization in Texas with her husband, Don. They are semi-retired but own and manage a casino and video gaming company from home. She loves volunteering and is a devoted supporter of the Friends of Music and the performing arts. Many people do not know that she has been a trail bike rider, a certified scuba diver, and a licensed private pilot. Tish claims this is the ultimate Mardi Gras experience when an adult can play a part of a childhood fantasy of “let’s pretend" and "playing dress-up", making all childhood dreams come true. Mardi Gras is Tish and Don’s passion thus they belong to several Krewes. They were 2005 Duchess and Duke of Krewe of Victoria and Don was 2010 Prince Albert XVII. Even their canine, Mia was Parade Marshall of Krewe des Chiens in 2012.
And who is the Fairest of them All?
Our lovely Queen to Reign over our Ball.
Petite and so pretty as a Magnolia flower,
She freshens the air like a spring shower.
Queen Victoria’s German husband and Royal Consort, the Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, our gallant and musical maestro Prince Albert XXI, Mr. Gerald Joseph Guilbeaux is one of our grand “Bayou Treasures”, hailing from Carencro, an authentic Cajun who speaks Cajun French with pride. Fondly known in our community as a State Farm agent, and his many talents he shares with the Friends of Music, the Lafayette Concert Band, Kiwanis Club, and as a Valet to Prince Albert. Prince Gerald is a first-rate conductor; performs regularly in fine tux and tails with the Lafayette Concert Band, and called the MUSIC MAN OF LAFAYETTE!
He describes himself as energetic, organized, and an all-around “nice guy". Many do not know he coached a girls' State Championship soccer team. He embodies the true qualities of a renaissance man, pays attention to good wine, art, music, and women! Yes his wife by his side of 42 years, Beth Hansen Guilbeaux and three other women are his daughters Amy, Chrissy, and Lynn and their 6 grandchildren: Carly Renée and Cameryn Nicole O’Quain; Lucien Howard IV and Lillian Elise Bone; and Mark Wayne and Addison Christine Thompson.
So handsome, so tall
Prince Albert this year is Maestro with a Ball!
As Cajun as cracklin’ and funny to boot
An evening with him is always a hoot.
