Prince Albert XVII - Donald G. Johnson, PhD
Reigning Queen Victoria XVII, Judy Vernell Swindle, loves Mardi Gras and has been a past Duchess, board member, chairperson and a Victoriette dancer in the Krewe of Victoria. She is also active in the Krewe of Carnivale in Rio and was past royalty.
Growing up in Tulsa, she began a career as a certified medical assistant in Oklahoma and eventually worked in surgery for oral surgeons in three states. Currently, she is president of Global Training & Environmental in Broussard, an oilfield safety education company she and her husband, Larry, founded.
She enjoys her hobbies of fine needlework as well as traveling when she isn't with one of her five children or playing with her four grandchildren. She is also on the board of the Acadian Memorial Foundation in St Martinville.
Originally from Oakdale, Johnson had quite a career in Texas as a college psychology professor and as a high school guidance counselor before founding two human services companies with his wife, Tish.
He brought that entrepreneurial spirit back to Louisiana about ten years ago and the couple became involved in the community. Don is past president of Acadiana Youth, a former board member of the Acadiana Chorale, a former king of the Krewe of Renaissance and is currently the president of the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana.
Don was a pilot in the US Air Force and even now flies his own planes that he works on, as well as enjoying fly fishing and pheasant hunting. He has a doctorate in Psychology from Texas A&M University. The couple have three sons, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
